Join our fishing guide on adventurous fishing. We take you on a hunt for Hardangervidda’s big trout. The Halnefjord is a fantastic trout lake and the surrounding rivers are powerful with mysterious rapids and quieter parts.

Do you want to learn fly fishing? This course gives you good training in everything from casting techniques, the right choice of equipment, tying flies and how to choose the right fishing spot. For beginners, the fly fishing course will pay a lot of dividends, and this is the best way to learn fly fishing.
RAKAFISKLAG

Join this year’s rakafisk team – a weekend that will be full of food from what Hardangervidda and the surrounding valleys can deliver! We have the pleasure of inviting you to an unforgettable rakafisk team in Steinbua on Saturday evening. We pop the butte and try the year’s first rake fish. The fish was caught in the Halnefjord in early July and should therefore be ready.
KNITTING WEEKEND AT HALNE
October 2 – 4, 2026
Gather friends and friends of friends, who are interested in knitting but also social gathering at Halne Fjellstugu. Here you can knit all weekend or also join us for a hike, sauna and swimming in fresh mountain water! Eat good local food. We plan to start with dinner on Friday evening.

Take the boat across the Halnefjord as the start of a hike, or as a round trip. Or how about spending one or more nights at the Halnefjordhytta that we rent out. The Halnekongen goes from Halne Fjellstugu to Skaupa/Sleipa. The crossing takes around 20 minutes.

Just a 30-minute drive west of Halne Fjellstugu, one of Norway’s most spectacular natural experiences awaits: Vøringsfossen.
When you stay with us at Halne, you are within easy reach of one of the country’s most famous and most photographed waterfalls – a simple excursion that leaves a lasting impression and memories for life.
Here, the Bjoreio River plunges 145 metres straight down into the dramatic canyon of Måbødalen, with a total drop of 182 metres from top to bottom. The power of nature is truly impressive, and the views are just as magnificent in summer as they are in autumn.
One of the highlights is the spectacular stair bridge crossing the canyon, with its 99 steps. Here, you get close to the waterfall and enjoy an experience you will not soon forget: panoramic views, crisp mountain air, rushing water and the magical light dancing in the mist. ACCOMMODATION
It is important to sleep in a good bed with a comfy duvet after a long day in the mountains. At Halne we have 75 beds situated in the main house and in cabins. With the window slightly open, you can sleep well breathing in the fresh mountain air from Hardangervidda.
FOOD
The nature on Hardangervidda is generous, and many of the ingredients we use in the restaurant are fished, hunted, and harvested locally. Halne Fjellstugu is the place to visit for a tasty dining experience both for residents, cabin people, locals, and passers-by.
ACTIVITIES
Halne Fjellstugu and Hardangervidda offer several fun and exciting activities. We have a variety of things to do throughout the season and have categorized the various activities according to the seasons. Winter and spring season is from March to May, and summer and autumn season from June to October.

Halne Fjellstugu is a perfect meeting place for social gatherings. This applies to both business meetings and private gatherings.
