Now you can take part in the magnificent spring fishing at Hardangervidda.
At the end of June, we start the fishing season at Halne, and we look forward to welcoming you as our guest. If you are interested, we organize net and pole fishing in the western part of Hardangervidda. Fishing is easily accessible by boat across the Halnefjord. Two overnight stays, good food and fishing.
We have a limited number of spaces available, and the weekend is therefore exclusive to a very limited number of participants. In addition, there will be conversation about fishing, lectures about life in the lake when the ice melts, and how the trout behave in the different seasons. Fishing on Hardangervidda and how fishing as a resource has been utilized throughout time, are also hot topics. The quality of mountain trout is sublime, and you will get the opportunity to participate in the processing of trout on the Sunday. Fermenting (rakfisk), smoking and graving of fish (gravørret) are on the agenda. We can guarantee that you will bring home a small taste of these mountain’s delicacies.
The Halnefjord is located on Vestvidda in the upper part of the river system named Numedalsvassdraget and it is regulated by 4 meters with a dam at the outlet to Sleipa in the southeast.
At the north end of the lake is Halne Fjellstugu (Halne Mountain Lodge), situated next to the national road. There is a boat service on the fjord between Halne in the north and Skaupa in the south. The boat service with Halnekongen has been in operation since 1954, when the dam at Sleipa was built. In Halnefjorden, fishing is an important activity contributing to taking care of the local fish population. Every year, 11,000 fish of local origin are released into the fjord. The goal is to fish about 1.5 tons of fish each year. In 2021, the largest fish caught weighed 2.9 kg.
